Marianne is the Head of Environmental and Sustainability at Walsh. She has been working in the environmental consulting sector since completing her doctoral research studies in Earth Sciences. She is a published author with journal articles covering topics like climate change, hydrogeology & geochemistry. She has robust analytical and numerical skills, as well as being a confident presenter at international conferences and handling geospatial datasets, all associated with her doctoral research.
As an environmental consultant, she has managed a range of geo-environmental projects specialising in land conditions, providing tiered risk assessment & remedial works following LCRM, as well as waste and materials management following CL:AIRE DoW CoP. She is a Qualified Person status under CL:AIRE and sits on the Contaminated Land Specialist Policy Panel with CIWEM. Her experience covers diverse projects in highways, rail, airport and military sectors, characterising novel waste streams, and assisting in development and testing of industry best practice tools. She also secured funding for an industry leading research project into Sustainable Use of Waste Soils, sat on a CIRIA project steering committee and has delivered expert witness work to the Environment Agency.
In her current role, Marianne works with Richard Ball, Walsh’s Geotechnical Director, to deliver geo-environmental analysis & remedial solutions to the construction industry, focussing on robust risk assessments and pragmatic and efficient solutions. Marianne also leads Walsh’s sustainability mission to achieve net zero through Scope 1 to 3 emissions by 2040.
