Dr Goodfellow achieved his PHD in 2010, proving him to be an intelligent, confident, work-driven engineer. He has also proven himself to be approachable, forward-thinking and willing to take on any challenge.
One of his key area of expertise lies in the design of steel structures and finite element analysis. He cites the Riverbank Plaza project as his most challenging to date. On this project he designed a hugely complicated 6-storey steel framed structure above an existing 12 storey hotel which had to be kept live during the works. The logistical challenges of the project meant Nathan spent a great deal of time on site during the construction phase coordinating the sequencing of the works to ensure the temporary stability of the structure.
Nathan has gained experience on large concrete frames structures and has worked on the Kew Bridge Residential project. As well as leading the design of the concrete frames Nathan has been the lead liaison with the main contractor and concrete frame subcontractor and helped resolve the logistical challenges of constraints such as the adjacent railways.
Nathan is qualified as a Temporary Works Coordinator and has an awareness of the duties of B5975.
