The Mastmaker Road development fulfilled the social housing requirement for other major Ballymore developments in the Docklands area. A residential development of both high-and-low-rise buildings, it needed to be efficient to build and sustainable to maintain.
The accommodation was spread between four blocks of townhouses / duplex apartments up to six storeys high and two high-rise towers of 19 and 23 storeys with a communal basement level for car parking.
We designed the buildings using traditional reinforced concrete frame construction with large cantilever balconies and canopies creating a striking feature on the upper floors of the towers.
Leveraging our expertise in lean design, we developed achievable plans for all the sub-structures and super-structure to meet a tight timescale and budget.
The development provides 10% of its own energy from renewable resources as well as making use of a local combined heat and power system.
